Privacy Policy

This is an English courtesy translation. The legally binding version is the German Privacy Policy.

This website is deliberately kept lean: no cookies, no tracking, no analytics tools, no social-media plugins and no fonts from third-party servers. The following is an overview of the few processing activities that remain.

2. Hosting and server log files

This website is hosted by Vercel Inc., 340 S Lemon Ave #4133, Walnut, CA 91789, USA (hereinafter "Vercel") and delivered via its global content delivery network. When you access the site, Vercel automatically processes technical access data in so-called server log files:

  • IP address of the accessing device
  • date and time of access
  • name and URL of the retrieved page or file, volume of data transferred
  • referrer URL as well as browser type and operating system

The purpose is the secure and stable operation of the website. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in a functional, secure website). A data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR is in place with Vercel; the log data is stored only for as long as is necessary for operation and security.

Vercel is based in the USA. In this context, personal data, in particular the IP address, may be transferred to and processed in the USA. The basis for the transfer is the European Commission's standard contractual clauses pursuant to Art. 46 GDPR, which form part of the data processing agreement with Vercel. Despite these measures, a level of data protection fully equivalent to the European one cannot be guaranteed; in particular, access by US authorities cannot be ruled out.

3. Contacting me

If you contact me by e-mail or telephone, I process your details solely to handle your enquiry. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR (initiation or performance of a contract) or (f) GDPR (legitimate interest in responding). Your data will be deleted as soon as it is no longer required to achieve the purpose; statutory retention periods remain unaffected.

4. No cookies, no tracking

This website sets no cookies, uses no analytics or tracking services and embeds no content or fonts from third parties. The fonts used are delivered from my own server; there is no connection to Google Fonts or comparable services. No usage profiles are created.

Technically necessary: to hide the data-protection notice once, a piece of information is stored locally in your browser (localStorage key "ds-hinweis-ok"). It remains on your device, is not transmitted to me or to third parties and serves no analysis purpose. You can delete it at any time via your browser settings.

5. Your rights

Within the scope of the statutory provisions, you have the right at any time to:

  • access to the data stored about you (Art. 15 GDPR)
  • rectification of inaccurate data (Art. 16 GDPR)
  • erasure (Art. 17 GDPR) and restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
  • data portability (Art. 20 GDPR)
  • object to processing based on Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR (Art. 21 GDPR)

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR). The competent authority is the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of North Rhine-Westphalia (LDI NRW), Düsseldorf.

6. SSL/TLS encryption

For security reasons, this site uses TLS encryption. You can recognize an encrypted connection by the "https://" in your browser's address bar.
